A Guide

Miss. Kars's Classroom Operating System (unabridged version)

1.     Be on time! If you’re not in your seat when the bell rings, you receive a special painting instruction and assignment. Packing up before the bell rings lets me know that you want to stay after class and clean.

2.     Be impeccable with your word. This means, use your words for good, not evil. Consider your words before you just blurt them out! Filter, filter, filter—It’s tough, but try.

3.     Have something to work on EVERYDAY. If you don’t bring the necessary tools, then you will receive a special painting instruction and assignment.

4.     Ten minutes before the end of class, clean, clean, clean like a beast. If you don’t clean up after yourself, your grade will reflect your impurity. After all, this isn’t your room and I am not your mother.

5.     If you’re hungry, eat something, BUT, you have to ask Miss Molly for “food support” (liquids can be scary around irreplaceable artwork, but exceptions can be made under certain circumstances).

6.     If you have to use the restroom, take the pass. It’s the big plastic duck. One person at a time—no pee parties.

7.     If you want to talk to your group members, then talk—quietly. However, if you’re not working while talking, then you receive a special painting instruction and assignment.

8.     No rainbows, no hearts, no unicorns and no aliens—if I see them, you receive a special painting instruction and assignment.

9.     IPod’s are wonderful, but it’s your responsibility to pay attention when I’m speaking.

10.                        Don’t worry about your art skills (or lack thereof). Just have fun, smile, and get your work done on time. Life isn’t a contest—we’re here to form an alliance.
